The part that isn't formatting

A formatter makes a spreadsheet look better. This one also understands what's in it — because it reads your actual rows, not a twelve-row sample.
It reads the whole sheet, not a sample
Your rows go to the model with each request, so it answers about your data specifically: which region missed target, which three invoices are duplicated, where the blanks cluster. Answers name real rows and real numbers.
It adds columns you didn't have
Revenue per unit, share of total, running total, variance, rank. It picks which ones are worth adding to your sheet, and they're written as live Excel formulas — open the download and the SUM still recalculates.
Plain English edits, previewed before they land
"Sort by revenue descending." "Format column D as currency." "Drop the totals row." The change appears in the sheet immediately as a pending edit with Accept and Reject — nothing is applied behind your back.

The AI does read your rows when it's on — there's a switch on the drop screen, and with it off nothing leaves the device.

Frequently asked questions
- Is my spreadsheet uploaded anywhere?
- The file itself, no — it is parsed, transformed and written back out entirely inside your browser, with no upload endpoint and nothing stored. The AI features are the exception: when they are on, the sheet's contents are sent to our language-model provider for that request, which is what lets the assistant answer about your actual rows instead of guessing from a sample. Nothing is retained and nothing is used for training. There is a checkbox on the drop screen to turn the AI off, after which no request is made at all and the formatter still does its full job.
- What can the AI actually do?
- Three things. It reads your sheet and writes the enhancement plan — what this sheet is, what to title it, what stands out in the numbers. It proposes calculated columns (revenue per unit, share of total, running total, variance, rank) and writes them as live Excel formulas rather than pasted values. And it answers questions and makes edits from plain English in the chat, with every edit shown as a pending change you accept or reject.
- Is SuperSheet free?
- Yes. Every visitor can transform sheets, use the plan reader and the chat, pick from two themes, and download a real .xlsx. Free downloads carry one small credit line at the bottom of the sheet. Pro removes that line, unlocks all five themes, and raises the AI limits.
- What file types work?
- Excel .xlsx and .xls, and .csv. Downloads come back as .xlsx with formatting intact, or CSV if you only want the values.
- How big a sheet can it handle?
- SuperSheet is built for everyday spreadsheets and works with the first 5,000 rows of a sheet, up to a 15 MB file. Formatting is structural, so wider sheets still format correctly — you just work with a slice of the rows.
- Will the formulas survive in Excel?
- Yes. The totals row is written as real SUM formulas over the data range, so it recalculates when you edit the numbers. Number formats, freeze panes, fills and conditional formatting are written as native Excel features, not as pictures of them.
- Do I need to install an add-in?
- No. SuperSheet is a web page. Nothing to install into Excel or Google Sheets, no account to create, and it keeps working with the spreadsheet software you already use.
